1. RegCure
Section 1

RegCure was a very interesting product to review. It performed very well in many categories, but seemed to perform poorly in a couple as well.

Under a critical eye, the poor results may be interpreted differently, however. We will present the facts and leave it for you to decide. RegCure ranked 3rd overall in our testing of five registry cleaning products. Read on to find out if you think it deserves a better rating.

2. Scan Speed Test
Section 2

RegCure tested for scan time, number of errors detected,
and accuracy of errors removed...

RegCure completed its full registry scan in just over seven minutes (7:03), ranking 5th out of the five products we tested for scan speed.

No significant load was added to the CPU during the scan, so you could theoretically continue to work while the scan is being run.

At a glance ranking 5th in scan speed seems like an indication of poor performance, but before you make a judgment consider some of the next test results.

Please see the video to see this test in action.

3. Registry Errors Found and Fixed Tests
Section 3

While it may not be the fastest registry scanner, it seems to be the most proficient and uncovering errors in your registry. i.e., RegCure may be worth the wait.

RegCure ranked 1st in the number of errors found category (with 854 errors) and more importantly 3nd in the changes made to the registry category.

The actual changes RegCure made to the registry was 93% accurate compared to the number of errors reported, which means RegCure is realistic when it tells you “here’s what’s wrong” and “here’s what I fixed.”

The only products to beat RegCure in this category were Registry Fix (97% ) and Max Registry Cleaner (94%), but, they detected less than registry errors than RegCure did. It seems if these two categories could be combined into one, RegCure would beat all of the competition.

To see this test in action, please watch the video above in Section 2.

4. Common Registry Errors Test
Section 4

Testing the ability of RegCure to remove some common
and annoying error messages
One of the most common claims and indeed one of the most heavily hyped benefits of registry cleaners is that they are able to fix and eliminate a large range of error messages that crop up on your computer.

Unfortunately, this is simply not the case.  A lot of error messages can not be made to disappear with a simple registry scan, that said they are ale to eliminate some common and very annoying error messages with ease.

When it came to the common registry errors test, RegCure performed well once again. It successfully removed five out of five of the most common registry errors, and tied for 1st place with two other products..

A video of the test results can be viewed above.

5. Multiple Scans Test
Section 5

Testing whether new errors are found after multiple consecutive scans
The most interesting category was that of multiple scans.

Each product ran five successive scans, and the number of errors detected after each scan were evaluated. Each of RegCure’s successive five scans produced more errors, while each of the other four products tested seemed to have eliminated all (or most) errors on one scan, with each successive scan producing no errors again and again.

But under careful consideration, RegCure’s results are at least ambiguous, and at most quite positive.

On one hand, the results could indicate that RegCure is not correcting all of the errors it reports, and/or is reporting false positives; in either case, this is dishonest and misleading to the consumer.

On the other hand, some computer-savvy consumers have taken the stance that each scan is finding new errors that were not detected in the previous scan; hence RegCure is actually refining your registry with each successive scan, and actually outperforming the other four products tested.

It’s kind of like peeling an onion; you can’t peel away the inner layers until the outer lays have been removed first, right? Note that each successive scan found fewer errors than the last one (854,118, 32, 21, 8), which could be an indication that the “onion peeling” paradigm is realistic.

Our tests were not deep or extensive enough to solve this mystery, so we ranked RegCure last in this category, but we’ll leave it up to you to decide for yourself.

6. PC Performance
Section 6

Our final test was the PC Performance to test to see if it was possible to measure any overall improvement in the computers performance as a result of running Reg Cure.

To do this, we used some PC Benchmarking software that measures the performance of the various components of a PC and gives an overall performance score.  First we established the baseline performance score before running the registry scan and then ran the performance scan again to see if the overall score had improved as a result of using Reg Cure.

The baseline score was 458.3 and the score after running Registry Fix was 482.1.  See image below of all registry cleaners and their performance scores.

RegCure’s clean introduced a 5.2% increase in overall PC performance in the performance test. This result ranked 3rd out of the five products we tested.

7. Summary
Section 7

Overall, RegCure seems to beat the competition in detecting and removing errors when you consider a single scan, and is relatively competitive in performance. When you consider multiple scans, things get a little hazy, and we will leave it up to you to decide where RegCure stands amongst its competition. Based on our six test suites, RegCure ranked 3rd overall out of the five registry cleaning products we tested.
